"Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki

Review by Alex G. -STUDENT

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is a very good read. I highly recommend it to anyone that is trying to be better off financially. In the books, Kiyosaki explains how he grew up with TWO dads, one rich dad, and one poor dad. His biological father was the poor dad. He wasn’t actually poor, he was actually highly educated and had a very good job, but he was not financially literate. His rich dad was actually his best friend Mike’s dad. In the book, Kiyosaki explains how growing  up being coached by both dad’s has greatly shaped who has grown to be, financially. His rich dad believed in being financially smart. He taught Robert to build his asset column, minimize his liabilities, be financially smart, take risks, and mind his business. His poor dad however, taught him to play it safe, get a good education, and find a good stable job with nice pay and great benefits. Robert grew up seeing two differing views on how to live life. As hard as it was for him, he decided to ignore his poor dad’s advice and listen to his rich dad. That decision is what changed his life, what made him wealthy, and what allowed him to retire in his 40’s.

In his book, Kiyosaki outlines the most important things he learned why under the wing of his rich dad. He gives very sound advice, and list steps that anyone can take. There is nothing he stresses more than the importance of being financially literate. To me, this book served as a great mind opener. It has pointed me to a different direction, and I believe that is what the book was meant to do.

"Harry Potter and the Golblet of Fire"  by  J.K. Rowlings

Review by Fernando R. -STUDENT

"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was an extraordinary tale of mystery and Fiction. In this book I explore Harry Potters world once again as he competes in a series of 3 tasks in order to win the Triwizard tournament cup for Griffindor. The thing is that Harry was never meant to be in the tournament and had his name placed in the goblet of fire by a mysterious person. Who could it be? Could it be lord Voldemort trying to take Harry's life again? Or could it be the mysterious wormtail who has popped up every so often on Harry's magical map? The ending was such a cliffhanger leading into the next amazing book, The Order of the Phoenix.

"Maximum Ride"  by James Patterson

Review by Ampro L. -STUDENT

The book I chose to review is Maximum ride: The angel experiment. I feel this book is a good recommendation because it has an interesting plot line and a great series. The book an action and thriller book that doesn't have an overused plot line like some other books. The main characters are 6 kids who have 2% bird DNA in them and one of them gets kidnapped and the rest has to fly across the country to find them. I feel the book has a good amount of story in one book and it doesn't speed things up or skips any points in the story. There is also a good amount of character development so you could know who's who and how are they like for the story. I don’t see any problems with the book. I do say this book is a good recommendation for anyone who wants to read something new.

"Frankenstein"  by Mary Shelley

Review by Ortensia C.  -STUDENT

In Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” a tale is told like no other. Victor Frankenstein a brilliant, young, and ambitious scientist makes an astonishing breakthrough in the science community, but because of what he created he would try his best and keep it a secret from the entire world. A horrid creation that would strike fear to the hearts of those who laid eyes upon it. A fiend is what they called it; a horrid creature. The story of Frankenstein illustrates the detrimental effects of a severed parental bond could have on a developing mind. As well as the haunting effect of the sub conscience on a guilty mind. This book is full of suspense, drama, romance, and even horror. This book is a world renowned book and have sold over millions of copies. This book would make for a fantastic read and I highly recommend it. 5 out of 5 Stars, Two Thumbs Up!

"A Week in the Woods"  by Andrew Clements

Review by Churchill E. -STUDENT

The book that I chose for National Teen Read Week was “A Week in the Woods” by Andrew Clements. It is a fictional story about a young teen whose life takes a dangerous and exciting turn after going on a mysterious 1-week school trip into the wilderness. He and his teacher, Mr. Maxwell are the two protagonists in the story. I would recommend this book because straight off of the first page, it grabs the reader and pulls the into a world of fright and suspense.
